Vale Tudo Guard Breakdown
As a Black Belt, one of the fun aspects of my progression now is learning all of the things that I missed along the way. I came up through the Sport Jiu-Jitsu lens and know that spending some time learning more of the old school approach would be good for me.
I came across this guard and have started implementing it in order to understand how I can make it work for me. It’s still early on, but what I am enjoying about the guard is that it leads into the shoulder attacks that I’m so comfortable with.
One of the reasons that I want to learn some of the more old school approaches, is the same reason I want to learn more takedowns.
My goal is to create a more well rounded version of myself.
One that that does great in the sport setting, one that can confidently utilize the standing techniques, and one that can keep me protected in more of a self defense setting.
