Weekly Thoughts, Mistakes, and Accomplishments In Bjj

Three Thoughts from This Week
All Signed Up
Every once in a while I get an itch to compete but eventually decide against it for one reason or another. As of this week, I officially signed up for Jiu-Jitsu World League.
I’ll admit that hitting the pay button left me slightly nervous, considering I haven’t done this in so long. I am excited for the challenge.
Friday Night At Five Peaks
I recently started teaching a 630pm class every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at Five Peaks Jiu-Jitsu. The first iteration was a smaller in attendance, but this time around we had a full class.
Honestly don’t know what to expect with this class considering it’s a Friday night and people usually want to do family things instead. In my experience, it’s historically, a hard slot in the week in terms of attendance.
I’m excited about building this up with time.
Competition Prep
I’m on week in and my body is banged up but I feel good, if that makes sense.
I’m pushing the pace and have adding extra training. My students and training partners are probably genuinely sick of me. My goal every roll is to pass the guard, acquire mount, and end the roll with an Arm Bar.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
