Three Thoughts from This Week
Indio, CA
Went to Indio for a few days, tried to contact a gym ahead of time that was just down the street but didn’t hear anything. I took it as a sign that maybe I should just chill out completely. Didn’t take any gear and didn’t bother trying any other gyms.
A day or two after I get back, they finally contact me telling me that it would be find to drop it. Uhhh..
I’m 90% sure that I’m going to Compete
Feels weird saying that since I haven’t competed since my Purple Belt days. I almost signed up back in October, even worked on dropping some weight. When I started I was hovering around two hundred pounds and as of this morning I’m just under one-ninety-five.
With a month out, I can get down another three or four pounds and make the weight with my Gi On.
Competition Prep
In thinking about this, I’m maybe mildly nervous. I’m actually a little excited to compete again. Don’t get me wrong, I do have some fears, it’s the first time my students will see me compete and I’m going to have to get creative with my competition prep.
I work full time and teach roughly sixteen classes a week. Currently looking at ways to perhaps adjusting some of my classes to allow me to train more, perhaps adding fifteen to twenty minutes at the end for additional rolls.
It’ll be interesting but I think it’s doable.
