Weekly Thoughts, Mistakes, and Accomplishments In Bjj

Three Thoughts from This Week
Competition Brackets
No one has signed up for the bracket that I’m in and JiuJitsu World Leagues says that they are 95% capacity. I would hate to think that I spent time watching what I’m eating with Thanksgiving coming up only not to be able to compete because no one else signed up.
It is what it is, I guess.
The competition prep has been a blast to work through, though.
On Being A Villain
I have been fortunate enough to have a fantastic support system. My students have been more than willing to adapt their training and allowing me to prepare as I need.
Being this selfish in my training almost feels foreign to me after so much time has passed since I last competed.
As an instructor you’re used to dialing your approach down for the sake of your students learning. In those moments it’s not about you. So pushing the pace and punishing them for the sake of your own training feels weird.
Bjj Mental Models 2025 Spring Camp
I’m happy to announce that I’ve been invited to teach at next year’s Bjj Mental Models Spring Camp! I’m so excited to be a part of this. A little nervous too but I can’t wait to get out there again and be around nothing but Jiu-Jitsu for a few days.
If you’re interested in going, the link is just below. Pro Tip, Black Belts do get to register for free. Additionally, if you’re a Bjj MM premium member, you can take advantage of the discount as well.
When you sign up, do me a favor and put me down as a referral. Thank you!
