3 Thoughts from This Week
Positional Warfare
I have a student who’s getting really good at a very specific top positions. Today I forced him to have to play outside of those positions of comfort.
Belt Toss
I was strangled by a student of mine. I noticed the grip, recognizing the danger but misunderstood where it was going to lead. I’ve seen the choke, but never experienced it. At the end of class I tossed him my belt in front of everyone as a sign of respect and public display of acknowledgment.
Transition Heavy
I’ve noticed that as I’ve gotten older, I have become transition heavy. Flowing from one position to the next, seldomly finishing submissions. I have a feeling it’s a self preservation tactic; searching for what’s open instead of forcing something.
