Three Thoughts from This Week
Chest Over Chest
Guard Passing can be complicated, Josh McKinney’s simplistic approach has changed my approach. It’s been a fun modification to my game since getting back from the Camp.
Authentically You
I was at Open Mat yesterday and rolled with a Purple Belt who doesn’t try to sweep from guard. He creates space and gets up. I decided to pick his break about it. He mentioned he has an MMA background, which made sense. I asked, do you ever get shit from Jiu-Jitsu instructors trying to change you? He said no, these guys are pretty supportive. I told him I loved it and to keep it up.
Something New
I decided to try my hand at some Audio Only Companions for my articles. I’m not the greatest public speaker. I’ve decided to use these one to tap into another section of students and for my own skill development. They are not perfect but they’re kinda fun to do.
