As some of you know, I’ve been doing a monthly work shop at Five Peaks for over a year know. I’ve grow to really enjoy the community there and they remind me of Gracie La Mesa. So much so that it now feels like a second home.
I recently overheard one of my training partners discussing a surgery that his son was going to undergo. Not wanting to intrude, I kept to myself and left after training. At the time, I didn’t know if it was serious or not.
Not until I came across this post.
Since getting my Black Belt Era I’ve made a few promises to myself.
Once of which was that I decided to officially open DFM Coaching to help people learn the sport I love, in a supportive and patient way regardless of the patch they wear. I now teach at three different academies and have been fortunate enough to build community at each one.
Another promise that I made to myself was that money would not be my driving force. That my passion would be centered around helping others, both in how and what I teach, but more importantly by giving back.
After seeing the post about Mateo, I reached out to the gym’s front desk and asked if they would be open to having me teach a Kimura Seminar and donating the proceeds to to the family.
They loved the idea, so here we are.
If you can’t make the seminar, you can always donate directly to Go Fund Me.
The Kimura Seminar
On June 29th, Five Peaks Jiu-Jitsu will be hosting me for a Kimura Seminar. 100% of the entrance fee will be donated to the family. The seminar will start at 8am and will run for about an hour and a half with a short Q&A at the end. If you’re interesting in rolling, Five Peaks will also be hosting a one hour Open Mat.
What You’ll Learn:
My Favorite Gripping Sequence
